lab today in san bernardino. today some lapd officers and their families are getting extra protection during this manhunt. dorner posted an 11-page manifesto online naming people in the department and blaming them and the department as a whole for essentially ruining his life. he was let go from lapd in 2009 but discharged as a navy reservist just week ago and now investigators say dorner is out to get revenge on officers. >> people with whom he had a grievance were fair game and so were their families and so were any other police officers on or off duty. >> reporter: it's been a very difficult 24 hours for people in riverside county who hold an emotional vigil for officers who were shot. none of the officers have been identified but the officer that died was 34 years old. the other officer in critical condition is expected to survive. shot almost a dozen times. that's a miracle. also overnight, authorities in san diego found another truck they believe is linked to dorner. they are fingerprinting this truck today so we are waiting to hear those results. bottom line, dorner

former lapd police officer accused of shooting a riverside police officer and two other people. marla tellez is following the story from newsroom this morning. >> reporter: 33-year-old christopher dorner has been on a rampage really since sunday night when he shot and killed a former colleague's daughter and her fiance in orange county. this morning he continues to elude thousands of police officers statewide and in nevada as you mentioned. nevada because dorner has a home in las vegas. much of the search this morning continues to focus though on the resort town of big bear where they found dorner's burned out truck yesterday. unfortunately that's all they found. as a result big bear remains on lockdown today. about 80 miles west of big bear is down down l.a. where lapd is headquartered and officials say all 10,000 officers are considered targets of dorner so security has been stepped up. >> harden the target to protect the employees that work in these facilities. we stepped up security and it's very visible. >> reporter: officials say motorcycle officers aren't even allowed to ride o

say former lapd officer christopher dorner wrote a multipage manifesto linking himself to the killings. there's a strange twist to the killings. the father of the basketball coach who was killed represented the suspect in a hearing that resulted in the suspect being fired from the l.a. police department back in 2009. >>> happening right now, south bay police involved in a manhunt of their own. a parolee in police custody this morning manages to give officers the slip.
